OBJECTIVE
For this assignment, I wanted to create a visual representation of my selected haiku by Matsuo Basho. I focused on using typography, image, and graphical elements to convey the same principles as my poem. Additionally, I emphasized simplicity and directness in my composition.

SKETCHING
I began my design process by experimenting with physical ideation. During this phase, I quickly sketched ideas and explored different design possibilities. For example, I represented words like "plum" and "sun" with circular shapes and "mountain path" with a continuous, flowing line.
DIGITAL ITERATION
I transferred my original physical sketches into digital form to focus more on detail and structure. With this step, emphasized directness, simplicity, and clarity in my design without using any literal imagery.
FINAL BLACK AND WHITE WITH COVERS
COLOR EXPERIMENTATION
After completing my final black-and-white design, I experimented with color. In the end, I chose a split-complementary color harmony of pastel yellow, purple, and green to reflect the poem's floral imagery.
